I think the stench from the
sewage this spring must have gone to Charles Wang's head.
This doesn't quite top firing your newly hired GM and replacing him with last season's backup goalie, but it comes pretty close.

In other news, the Islanders have signed Johnny "Mac" MacGinty, their 92 year old ticket taker to a 22 year/7.6 million contract extension.
According to owner, Charles Wang, Johnny is "a member of our team whose strength and dedication we felt important to secure." Should Johnny fall seriously ill, the Islanders are empowered to freeze the ticket taker, dress him in Fisherman-wear, and make him the centerpiece of center-ice at Nassau Coliseum.
Contract negotiations with top "ice girl" Kelli are supposedly getting serious as she will be the only hot "product" on the Island for many, many years to come.
